My work adopted an 11 year old little girl for Christmas. I took this opportunity to get Gabrielle and her friends involved in giving back by donating their time and money to shop for this little girl and make her Christmas special. Gabrielle sent out a Myspace bulletin and invited all of her friends to meet us at Kohls or to come home with her on the bus after school. She got an overwhelming response of kids who wanted to go but in the end only 4 were able to make it! We made an afternoon of it! We went to Kohls and Target. I was so proud of my girls. They each brought about $20 to spend! They were very selective and thoughtful when chosing their gifts. Each girl got something they thought the girl would like! They really gave each item a lot of thought. In the end they collectively purchased a hoodie sweatshirt, a long sleeve t-shirt, a short sleeve t-shirt, a cute pair of jeans, socks, a watch, a game, the hairspray DVD, a Jonas Brother CD, a teen magazine filled with posters, a purse, lip gloss, nail polish, and a stocking filled with candy. The girls had such a great time. Afterward, we came back to the house and ate pizza. I am so proud of them and the fact that they did this. They did more for this little girl than an entire floor of my co-workers. It was awesome!!
