My first photoshoot!

My good friend Tracy just had a beautiful baby girl. Her name is Isabel and she is 3 weeks old! Tracy says that she weighs 8lbs 7 oz now, Grant weighed more than that at BIRTH. (8lbs 9oz) She was so tiny and just absolutely gorgeous. She was soooo very sweet too! I love the first few weeks when they sleep, sleep, and sleep some more. They are so tiny and new. Their skin is wrinkling and peeling and they just smell so sweet. I have never done a "photo shoot" before and I am certainly not qualified to do one now but Tracy has always loved my pictures. I thought what better time to start practicing than now. I bought some backdrops and some props and asked her if she wouldn't mind me using her sweet baby as a guinea pig. She was soooo excited and that made me so nervous, because I knew they wouldn't be great. But hey, free pics of her baby.... I learned a few things and she was happy with the pics of her baby.



These are actually very cute pictures of the baby, none of the ideas for poses are original, I stole them from blogs I read on the web. (I don't recall which blogs where though, just ideas that stuck in my mind). From the technical aspect though, these photos suck! They are noisy, they are dark, I over photoshopped them to try to fix them but I do think there is some good composition and something to build on someday. Someday when I learn how to work my camera. Also I used the kit lens on my 40D. It is the 28-135mm. There was no natural light and I worked mainly off the built in flash. I don't have a speedlite yet! I don't want to buy a lot of expensive equiptment until I figure out how to work the things I have now!



So if you see these, take into consideration that I have only had an slr for one month. Before that I had a point and shoot canon S2 IS.



I shot all of these on Manual. I tried~!
