This is HUGE for me. Carter is a different child. He has sensory issues and he is on the spectrum, but truthfully I believe he is a lot like me when I was a child I just internalized it better because I had to. Certain things send him into a tailspin. It is a fight to get him to leave the house or transition no matter where we are going, even if he WANTS to go or if it somewhere he likes to go like preschool!
Gabrielle has been going to VBS since 4th grade and she has been a crew leader for the last 3 years. This is Carter's first year and he LOVES it. I wish it was all summer and not just one week! It is all he talks about! Last night he slept in his VBS shirt, he refuses to take it off and he carries his little bible buddies everywhere. They get a new plastic bible buddy figure everyday.
He has been getting up at 6:30 every morning, he is getting ready all by himself with no fights or me begging him to put his clothes on. He wakes everyone up and says "The sun is shining now, I have to go to VBS today!" He tells everyone to hurry up because he does not want to be late. I even got him to bed on time last night because he wanted to sleep so today would come faster.
This is huge...... usually Carter sleeps until 8am and I have to wake him up slowly by rubbing his back, he is very grouchy when he first wakes up too! I am just so happy that he is happy and enjoying something this much! It is so unusual for his personality, it's awesome to see him like this.
VBS this year is an awesome program, the theme is "Power Lab" and they are doing all of these cool experiments. I am so thankful that this has touched him in this way!
